Made by ceramicist Doohyun Hong, of ceramic studio Banwolyo in Cheongdo, Korea, this gaiwan set includes a gaiwan with a saucer, fairness cup (gongdaobei) and two cups.
This set has a unique, rough finish that is individual to each piece. The ceramicists creates this texture on purpose to resemble tableware for common people during the Joseon Dynasty. He does so by placing sand on the bottom of the kiln and firing with the top of the lid of the gaiwan on the bottom. The sand on the pieces will change colour over time you use them.
We recommend brewing Hadong Black tea in this gaiwan.
