This moon jar is hand-made by Sang-geun Jeon, a ceramic artist that specialises in using traditional Korean pottery techniques to create modern pieces.

Moon jars have been a unique feature to Korean pottery and were adopted as imperial ware in the 15th century during Joseon Dynasty, last kingdom of Korea. Although moon jars are traditionally made in white porcelain, the artist took a modern spin by introducing black clay as a substitute. The rough texture of the moon jar creates a subdued, rustic look and complements natural elements well.

The artist's other works also include incense holders in white porcelain, black clay incense holders, and vases.
